Bowl Them Over!
When it comes to dinner time, there are many types of dishes available – but choosing the right ones does make a difference.
First of all you need to consider what type of material they are made from, then secondly you can pick out the ones that serve your dog's needs best. Be wary of cheap plastic or ceramic bowls. Some plastics can release fumes or chemicals, especially when heated, and you don't want them leaching into your baby's food. Try and buy thick plastic, also, to keep them chew-resistant. Opt for high-quality porcelain that is lead and cadmium free. Both types should be microwave and dishwasher safe. Stainless steel varieties are always a good bet, but make sure they have no-skid bases.
While bug-proof bowls have been around for a long time, new high-tech designs are coming out all the time for other issues. Gulpers can face many health issues, but you can now get dishes that help prevent them from eating so quickly by portioning off the food or putting an obstacle in the middle so they have to eat around it. For pooches with long ears or lots of hair on their snouts, floating islands in the middle of the dish, or access to the water through just a small hole in the top, are very efficient. It's wonderful how manufacturers are tuning into our pet's needs, but it does mean we have to do a little bit of homework first before we buy what could be the single most-used item in any dog's supply list.
