Tragic House Fire Strikes Pet Family, Friends
A very tragic incident occurred the evening of November 12th to a wonderful family, and friends of ours, in their High Point, North Carolina home. We first met the Maxwell family at a pet fashion show, when they used to reside in California, and one of their gorgeous pups won the grand prize and landed a cover shot for our catalog. Many of their family dogs became models for our catalog and we could always tell how much they were loved and well cared for by the Maxwell's. Holly Maxwell always cherished all her Chihuahuas and is an avid well respected breeder for her kennel, Blue Chi's Ranch.
Fortunately, Holly and her husband and children were uninjured. They were all home when the house filled with smoke and it left very little time to get to safety and to save as many dogs as they could.
Hearing the tragedy from the family is a stark reminder and lesson on how little time you have in the event of a disaster like a fire. Sometimes the best pre-planning just isn't enough. They lost several of their dogs, which were their family. The house is total loss and they're uninsured so they truly lost everything and escaped with the shirts on their back and as many dogs as they could possibly rescue.
Recovering from a disaster of this magnitude is a long hard road. Out thoughts and prayers are with them and we will do whatever we can to help in their time of need.
