Small Dogs: Why Two is Best

When asked to describe the most important things in life, most people point to three priorities: family, health, and friends.

Dogs, on the other hand, prioritize two things: food and companionship. With so many nutritious dog foods available, this priority is easy for you to fulfill. And without fail, you wholeheartedly give your furry friend your own companionship.

And yet, for dogs, the need for companionship is twofold. As much as our dogs love being around us, they also adore their canine friends. That’s why, when you think of buying or adopting a dog, you might want to consider these arguments for two small dogs being better than one:

1. You can negotiate prices with a breeder when you purchase two from the litter.

2. It’s a cinch to walk two little dogs on a leash, especially with a Double Coupler on your favorite Susan Lanci lead. (click here for details).

3. When you leave the house for work or errands, your dogs have each other for companionship.

4. It is great fun to dress up two dogs. Dress them like twins in matching outfits. Or if you have a girl and boy consider blue and pink outfits with coordinating collars and leashes.

5. Why, your little boy and girl can even get married, and you can plan the wedding!

6. When they go to the vet or doggie daycare, they can board in the same kennel. You’ll feel so much better going on vacation, knowing that your dogs have each other.

7. When two little dogs decide to sleep in your bed there’s plenty of room left over for you, too! For daytime naps, both dogs can snuggle up in a single dog bed. Too cute - get the camera ready!

8. Little dogs are so sweet when they groom and lick each other’s faces.

9. You can sneak two little dogs into a hotel, most hotels allow one dog per room. (Fool them by walking one at a time. The staff will think it’s the same lucky dog, getting lots of walks!)

10. Enjoy double the love - you can hug and carry two little dogs at the same time!

As a little dog owner, get ready for lots of attention when you are out and about. In fact, prepare for paparazzi-type crowds, because who can resist a pair of adorable furry dogs? When you come back home and the little ones are finished eating out of their matching dishes, gather them up for some quiet time with you. Then off they go to romp and play with each other, because that’s what best friends are for.
